Favorite RVA restaurant? En Su Boca, Loveshack, and Fighting Fish
Favorite music genre? My music taste are fairly eclectic, so it is hard to pick just one! Contemporary Gospel is what you would probably hear me playing most during my morning commute.
Where on campus do you feel most energized? I get most of my energy by being around large groups of people. So I would say I'm most energized cheering on the Spiders at a sporting event or at an admitted student event talking with students and their families.
Do you have a favorite spot on campus that is not on our tour?
Cannon Memorial Chapel - I love how tranquil it is and it is definitely one of the most beautiful places on campus.
If you could go back to college and major in a different subject, what would you pick? Why?
I would either major in Sociology (which I minored in) or Journalism. Both would allow me the opportunity to learn more about people, communication, and various structures that impact day to day life. My friends would tell you I love keeping them informed about pop culture, newsworthy stories, and various recalls.
What is one piece of advice you’d give students for the college search/application process?
Be open minded! There will be a lot of information given to you from various sources and people. More than likely you have grown up hearing about a set of few schools and know people who have attended those places. What I found in my journey was those institutions while great, were not the best fit for me. I attended a college where I could best see myself, felt the sense that I already belonged, and was excited about the opportunities I would have as a student. I found myself involved in organizations that I knew I wanted to join but also was inspired to get out my comfort zone by going caving with friends and taking my first flight to Ghana for a Mayterm.
